Job Description
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- In-depth and general operation of furnace
- Constant monitoring of furnace parameters
- Burner assembly/cleaning and fine-tuning burner combustion
- Oversee the charging as well as housekeeping of the furnace
- Monitor scrap quality and assist with scrap blending to achieve desired spec
- Record production data as required by our quality management system
- Assist the line manager with ad hoc duties
- Management of the Furnace equipment and operational procedures
- Manage quality standards in accordance with set targets and guidelines
- Manage risk by identifying potential failures and offering solutions to remedy risk
- Team supervision to ensure smooth operation of the shift
- Manage consumables and spares to ensure that production runs smoothly
- Compile shift report including general incidents and delays
- Investigate incidents and communicate findings possible solutions timeously
- Implementation and monitoring of Occupation Health and Safety compliance
Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria:
- Matric (Maths compulsory)
- Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office)
- Excellent Communication skills. (verbal, written and presentation)
- In depth knowledge and experience in operating a furnace
- Minimum 3-5 years experience as a Supervisor in a production or mechanical environment;
- Ability to work in and lead a team
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to work overtime and SHIFTS
- Ability to work under challenging conditions
- Must have basic knowledge of Health & Safety Rules
- In good health, physically fit
