About the Role
The Lab Technician position at Profile Personnel is a permanent role that involves maintaining and controlling various paint/phosphate-related processes, as well as ensuring quality control in the metrology environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Check paint quality and perform crosshatch checks
- Manage Chemical Stores in the paint shop
- Maintain accurate logs of all data
- Conduct CMM inspections for metrology measurement
- Order chemicals and ensure correct testing is carried out by suppliers
- Start up and control degreasing machine
- Monitor oven temperature and conveyor speed of Gel Oven using correct measurement equipment
- Set up parts in measurement holding fixtures
- Start up and shut down paint shop operations
- Adjust conveyor speed and oven temperature in paint shop using correct measuring equipment
- Conduct salt spray tests
- Update and maintain control charts
Requirements
- Chemical knowledge
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data capture
- Basic computer literacy
- Advanced computer skills
- Good communication skills
- Problem-solving abilities
- Attention to detail
- Reporting skills
Qualifications
- NQF Level 4 / Grade 12
- Tertiary studies in Laboratory Chemicals
- Minimum 1 year experience in a laboratory environment
- Minimum 1 year experience in metrology part measurement (advantageous)
