Start your engineering career with real industry experience. Gain hands-on exposure in one of South Africa’s most dynamic manufacturing environments. An established food manufacturing group is offering a structured P2 Technical Training opportunity for aspiring Electrical and Mechanical Engineering professionals who have completed their S4 studies and P1 practical training. This programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world engineering practice. Successful trainees will join the company’s bakeries manufacturing operations for a six-month in-service P2 training programme. During this time, trainees will gain practical exposure to production systems, equipment maintenance, and operational processes within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Upon successful completion of the initial programme, trainees may be offered an additional six-month training contract to further deepen their practical experience. This opportunity provides a valuable platform for young engineers to build technical capability, work alongside experienced professionals, and gain insight into large-scale food production operations. The client is a well-established leader in the South African food manufacturing sector, known for its strong operational footprint, commitment to product quality, and ongoing investment in developing future technical talent. What You’ll Do • Participate in structured P2 in-service training within a manufacturing environment • Support maintenance and technical teams in day-to-day operational activities • Gain hands-on experience with production equipment and engineering systems • Assist with troubleshooting, inspections, and preventative maintenance tasks • Learn how engineering functions support efficient plant operations • Work closely with experienced technicians, engineers, and supervisors What You Bring • Completed S4 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering • Completed P1 training • Minimum overall academic average of 65% • Grade 12 or N3 qualification • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy with a minimum average of 65% • South African citizenship • Basic computer literacy • Strong motivation to learn and grow in a technical environment • Ability to commute daily to the assigned training site • Ideally between 18 and 29 years old with limited work experience What Success Looks Like • Demonstrating strong technical curiosity and willingness to learn • Applying academic knowledge in a real manufacturing environment • Building practical engineering and maintenance skills • Contributing positively within technical teams • Successfully completing the P2 training programme and gaining meaningful workplace experience
