About the Role
Our client, a leader in the steel fabrication industry, is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of mechanical systems, as well as contributing to the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Health and Environment Standards and Procedures
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits and identify high risk areas and initiate appropriate corrective actions
- Arrange and facilitate safety meetings
- Implement safety related corrective actions and strategies
- Equipment operation and maintenance
- Ensure safe, efficient and accurate maintenance of equipment according to maintenance procedures, instructions and schedules
- Build, assemble, test and evaluate machine assemblies
- Participate in design improvements and projects to improve the manufacturing process and ensure continuous improvement
- Follow all maintenance related processes and procedures as required by the maintenance management system
- Report on maintenance activities as required
- Solid knowledge of Mechanical Engineering principles, processes, systems, procedures and practices
- Solid knowledge of general maintenance administrative processes and systems
- Solid understanding of organisational business processes and procedures
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Minimum 10 years experience
- Degree or higher Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- ECSA registration
- Heavy Engineering industry experience
