About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our network infrastructure, providing top-notch support to our clients, and driving business growth through innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist IT departments in resolving issues with their network equipment (routers, firewalls, comprehension boxes, etc.)
- Provide quality support, particularly by explaining to your contacts the origin of their problem and the appropriate resolution practices
- Enhance our knowledge base by updating the documentation of operating procedures and instructions
- Ensure firmware upgrades for network equipment
- Independently manage site infrastructure transformation projects in compliance with client standards and best practices in terms of network architecture
- Perform network compliance audits and ensure the security and high availability of the client’s infrastructure are maintained
- Adhere to client-defined SLAs and monitor them with your manager
- Network and Firewall administration and maintenance
- Design of the IT network infrastructure (WAN, MAN, LAN) of the entities, across the entire scope: Technically translates the functional needs of the group. Builds and maintains the standards and principles of architecture.
- Based on the strategies and needs of the business departments Ensure capacity planning for IT Infrastructure
- Manage IT Hardware resources (see inventory and capacity planning in deliverables here after)
- Guarantee the availability and quality of data by maintaining and improving performance (“tuning”) and functionalities (by improving their automation, optimizing processing and queries, settings, etc.)
- Management of scalabilities (volume monitoring, etc.) on the data access aspect
- Administer user access permissions and data security issues with the security engineer
- Manage version migrations
- Follow up on monitoring tools and study all incidents that have occurred to understand their severity and origins
- Participation in the architecture projects of new projects, implementation: Participates in the evaluation of projects.
- For all new projects or new technologies, participates and monitors the evaluation of the impact of the change
- Monitoring of network infrastructure deployments, carried out by internal and external teams
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Information Technology or Computer Science
- Fortinet NSE 6 CCNP / ARUBA ACP Azure Networking
- Advantage Management of operations on environment with clustering, replication, load balancer
- ITIL Practitioner (V3) / ITIL Specialist (V4)
- ISO 27000, other IT security Training
- Prince2, PMP or equivalence
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Information Technology or Computer Science
- Fortinet NSE 6 CCNP / ARUBA ACP Azure Networking
