Cape Town City Centre: HVAC / Refrigeration Technician (Internal & External) – Cape Town

Job Description

Introduction: Company looking to appoint a highly skilled and experienced HVAC / Refrigeration Technician with extensive exposure to VRV/VRF systems, DX air-conditioning units (single split, multi-split, cassette, and under-ceiling units), DX air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, evaporative cooling systems, humidifiers, and de-humidifiers. The incumbent must possess strong electrical competency to wire, connect, test, and commission HVAC and refrigeration systems. Minimum requirements: Minimum of 8 years post-Trade Test experience working with VRV/VRF systems, DX AC units, DX air handling units, evaporative cooling systems, humidifiers, de-humidifiers, and chillers (Trane, Carrier, CIAT, York). N6 qualification with Trade Test in Refrigeration, HVAC, or Electrical (preferred). Valid Refrigeration Technician License | Electrical Certification (advantageous). HIRA and Legal Liability certification (compulsory). Valid drivers licence Advanced piping, brazing, flaring, and insulation expertise. Strong electrical fault-finding and commissioning capability. Sound knowledge of refrigeration cycles and HVAC system integration. Proficient in diagnostic tools and testing equipment. Ability to interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Good communication and client liaison skills. Ability to work independently and within a team. High attention to detail and quality standards. Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime when required. Job purpose: Installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of VRV/VRF systems. Installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of DX AC units (single split, multi-split, cassette, under-ceiling). Installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of DX air handling units, chillers (Trane, Carrier, CIAT, York), cooling towers, evaporative cooling systems, humidifiers, and de-humidifiers. Perform electrical wiring, terminations, control panel connections, and system commissioning. Execute piping installation including brazing, flaring, pressure testing, vacuuming, and insulation. Install cable trays, trunking, supports, and associated accessories. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults. Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals. Conduct routine preventative maintenance. Perform system testing and inspections post-installation or repair. Maintain accurate service and maintenance documentation. Ensure compliance with OHS and company HSE standards. Provide technical support to clients. Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and project managers. Salary offer: Negotiable
