Job Description
- Qualified Trade Certificate in Fitting & Turning
- Minimum of 5 years of plant maintenance experience in food industry
- Minimum of 5 years of Turning and Machining experience
- Code 08/B driver’s license
- Forklift driver’s license advantageous
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous
- Experience with Tool and Parts Management
- Computer literacy
- Experience in ARC, TIG and MIG welding advantageous
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
- Understanding and knowledge of mechanical seals, pump maintenance, pneumatic systems, steam components, boilers, auger, silos, gearboxes and conveyor systems
- Well organized and able to work on your own
- Communication skills
- Practically minded & logical thinking skills
- Excellent work ethics and integrity
- Must be willing to work shifts and standby duties
- Excellent time management
- Initiative and drive
- Problem solving skills
- Team player
- Own transport
Role responsibilities:
- Maintain plant equipment
- Perform plant maintenance during the shutdown period
- Understand and interpret new drawings and manuals
- Install new machines and equipment as and when instructed
- Responding to emergency machine breakdowns throughout the plant
- Do regular inspections of plant equipment
- Give feedback to Maintenance Engineer on breakdown root cause analyses
- Attend to all relevant breakdowns during standby period
- Complete DMS Work orders and Work order book to keep a record of work completed
- Apply for parts by making use of the requisition procedure
- Operate the Leathe and Milling machine to manufacture parts and spares
Health and Safety
- Participate in safety forums
- Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meetings / committees / representatives / management
- Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
- Attend safety education and refresher programmes
- Comply with safety policies and procedures
- Distribute safety information as and when required
- Always wear protective clothing PPE (where applicable)
Employee management and development
- Ensure overall compliance to relevant procedures and policies
- Ensure that all team members have clearly defined job profiles
- Regular goal reviews are completed to assess achievement of results
- Support, coaching and mentoring is continuously provided to ensure that objectives are met
- Appropriate allocation of resources to meet operational demands
- Ensure adequate succession planning in order to meet ongoing and anticipated business requirements
