Job Description
Core Criteria:
- Citizenship: Botswana citizens or those with residency status are advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in an upmarket lodge environment, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Operational Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) operations, including strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle the daily operations of a remote lodge.
- Maintenance Skills: Strong technical knowledge in general maintenance, including plumbing and electrical systems.
- Expertise in solar power systems is essential, as is the ability to manage routine maintenance and repairs effectively.
- Financial Management: Exceptional financial acumen, with proven experience in budget management, financial planning, and cost control.
- Ability to drive profitability by managing revenue, and expenses, and ensuring the overall financial health of the lodge.
- Leadership & Team Management: Strong leadership skills to inspire, manage, and develop a diverse team, including guides and operational staff.
- Experience in talent development and creating a positive work environment is crucial.
- Community Relations: Ability to build and maintain relationships with local communities, suppliers, and stakeholders, ensuring long-term sustainability and cooperation.
- Technical Competence: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications, including online reservation and POS systems.
- Communication Skills: Outstanding command of both written and spoken English.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Personal Attributes: Energetic, emotionally stable, and a confident team player with a positive attitude and passion for excellence.
- Remote Experience: Comfortable working in remote, off-the-grid environments. Experience managing in similar conditions is highly preferred.
Educational Qualifications: A relevant tertiary qualification in hospitality, business management, or a related field.
