Job Description

We seek a dynamic and experienced Lodge Manager or Lodge Management couple to lead operations at an upmarket lodge in Botswana. The ideal candidate/s will bring a blend of hospitality expertise, operational, maintenance & leadership skills to ensure guest experiences while maintaining the lodge’s high standards.

Core Criteria:

  • Citizenship: Botswana citizens or those with residency status are advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in an upmarket lodge environment, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Operational Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) operations, including strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle the daily operations of a remote lodge.
  • Maintenance Skills: Strong technical knowledge in general maintenance, including plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Expertise in solar power systems is essential, as is the ability to manage routine maintenance and repairs effectively.
  • Financial Management: Exceptional financial acumen, with proven experience in budget management, financial planning, and cost control.
  • Ability to drive profitability by managing revenue, and expenses, and ensuring the overall financial health of the lodge.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Strong leadership skills to inspire, manage, and develop a diverse team, including guides and operational staff.
  • Experience in talent development and creating a positive work environment is crucial.
  • Community Relations: Ability to build and maintain relationships with local communities, suppliers, and stakeholders, ensuring long-term sustainability and cooperation.
  • Technical Competence: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications, including online reservation and POS systems.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding command of both written and spoken English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Personal Attributes: Energetic, emotionally stable, and a confident team player with a positive attitude and passion for excellence.
  • Remote Experience: Comfortable working in remote, off-the-grid environments. Experience managing in similar conditions is highly preferred.
