About the Role
Objective Personnel is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our Quality Control team in Kempton Park. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality products by conducting rigorous testing and inspections.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality checks on all raw materials before release for manufacturing
- Inspect and approve all packaging materials, including cans, boxes, and lids
- Check grind quality of paste products
- Conduct quality checks on toners, including viscosity, specific gravity (density), colour, gloss, drying time, and comparison against approved company standards
- Perform quality checks on body fillers and putties, including gel time, sandability, pinholes and cracks
- Monitor the manufacturing process during production
- Check filling weights before filling starts and perform cross-checks during filling
- Inspect damaged packaging materials before disposal
- Conduct quality checks on internally manufactured cans
- Investigate customer returns and report findings clearly to management
- Inspect customer return products by application and spraying, comparing results with retained samples and approved standards
- Report laboratory trial results and any issues or questions to management
- Perform lab trials for new formulations
- Decant and review old lab samples every 3–6 months and return acceptable material to production
- Maintain a confidential formulation record book for all lab trials
- Enter daily production data accurately
- Record data for raw materials received from local and international suppliers, raw materials issued from warehouse for testing, laboratory tests, quality inspections, lab trials and results
- Keep monthly records of drawdown cards, sample cans used, reporting and communication
- Send professional emails related to laboratory and quality activities
- Provide daily activity reports detailing work completed and observations
- Maintain high standards of laboratory housekeeping, including cleaning, mopping, and dusting
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is clean, calibrated, and well maintained
