About the Role
The Accountant – Freight & Logistics Industry role at TalentFuse (Pty) Ltd involves managing the financial aspects of a freight forwarding company, ensuring compliance with various laws and regulations, and driving process optimisation within finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full month-end closure process within strict reporting timelines
- Prepare preliminary and final monthly figures
- Balance sheet reconciliations and VAT returns with supporting audit files
- Import and review journals
- Cost allocations and review with Business Unit Managers
- Income statement review and analysis
- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, Income Tax Act, VAT, PAYE, UIF and SDL
- Manage SARB requirements where applicable
- Oversee B-BBEE compliance support
- Ensure POPIA compliance within finance function
- Support annual financial audits and VAT audits
- Authorisation of EFT and foreign payments
- Bank reconciliations and review
- Petty cash sign-off
- Importing bank entries
- Manage funds and refactoring account requests
- Manage asset additions, disposals, depreciation and write-offs
- Capex approvals and budget management
- Finance deal negotiations and agreement sign-off
- Maintain asset registers and related documentation
- Drive process optimisation within finance
- Support ISO quality system adherence
- Implement proactive risk management strategies
Requirements
Matric
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Articles completed
Experience
3–5 years’ relevant experience
Experience within freight forwarding or logistics will be highly advantageous
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of IFRS and local tax legislation
SAP proficiency
Intermediate to advanced MS Excel
Strong financial systems background
L-Shipping or Shipshape experience advantageous
