About the Role

The National construction materials testing group is seeking an IT Systems & Infrastructure Technician to join their team, supporting over 200 users across laboratory and site-based environments. As a key member of the IT department, you will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring the reliability of our branch connectivity, as well as providing technical support to branches.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure across multiple sites
Monitor and maintain VPN connectivity between branches
Configure firewalls
Monitor and maintain backup systems
Ensure uptime and reliability of branch connectivity
Manage Microsoft 365 tenant administration
Perform user provisioning (Active Directory)
Manage endpoint management
Manage email security and spam filtering
Manage software licensing and renewals
Assist with disaster recovery and business continuity planning
Maintain compliance with internal IT governance procedures
Provide remote and on-site support to branches
Install and maintain hardware and peripherals
Troubleshoot software issues
Manage asset tagging and IT asset register management
Maintain IT documentation and SOPs
Manage relationships with external IT service providers where applicable
Assist with IT budgeting and procurement support

Requirements

Degree/Diploma in IT
4 years practical IT support experience
Experience in multi-branch or distributed environments (advantageous)
Strong knowledge of Windows Server & Microsoft 365
Network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) skills
Firewall and VPN configuration experience
Backup solutions management skills
Basic scripting knowledge
