Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Confectionery Production:
- Prepare and produce a variety of cakes, pastries, desserts, biscuits, and sweet items
- Decorate cakes and confectionery products to a high standard
- Ensure consistency in quality, taste, and presentation
- Follow recipes accurately and contribute to product innovation where required
Bakery Operations:
- Bake products including bread, rolls, and other baked goods
- Prepare doughs, batters, and fillings from scratch
- Monitor baking processes, including proofing, temperatures, and timing
- Operate and maintain bakery equipment safely and efficiently
Quality Control & Stock Management:
- Ensure all products meet freshness and quality standards
- Minimise wastage through proper handling and portion control
- Assist with stock control, ingredient rotation, and ordering
- Maintain proper storage of ingredients and finished goods
Hygiene & Compliance:
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and hygiene standards
- Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant workspace
- Ensure proper handling of all perishable items
Team & Operational Support:
- Work collaboratively with the team to meet daily production targets
- Assist with customer orders and special requests when required
- Support continuous improvement within the bakery department.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
- Relevant qualification in Bakery / Pastry / Confectionery (advantageous)
- Minimum of 3–4 years’ proven experience in a bakery and confectionery environment
- Strong hands-on experience in both baking and confectionery production
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and quality standards
- Ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
