Duties & Responsibilities
Main duties include, but are not limited to:
- Daily route planning of all in-house and outsourced vehicles
- Canvas for return loads from daily destinations
- Economize and Schedule loads and determine most economical routes for drivers, daily
- Do physical truck inspections to determine preventative maintenance
- Schedule truck maintenance and services and authorize repairs, maintenance and tyre replacements
- Monitor driver abuse, wear and tear, tyre usage and take necessary preventative actions
- Monitor and Audit full fleet diesel consumptions, including trucks, bakkies, forklifts and yellow machines
- Chair weekly toolbox talks with team, give team advice and motivate team, address any concerns or problems that may arise
- Liaise with Customers and Drivers to address any problems that may arise with deliveries
- Audit drivers & teams incentives monthly.
- Collaborate and communicate information related to shipments with relevant internal teams and customers
- Strategically and tactically enhance customer service function through quality, cost savings and transport delivery efficiency
- Strong Managerial Skills and able to think on your feet and make decisions on the go
- Risk management on and off site
- Manage, plan & maintain departments budget.
- Ensuring customer satisfaction at all times
- Ability to work under pressure
- Technically minded
- Excellent communication skills.
- Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Driven by results, committed to meeting deadlines and targets, ambitious and dedicated, taking on full responsibility and ownership of the position.
- On 24 hours standby for drivers and in-case of an accident
- Present weekly and monthly reports to Directors
- Ad hoc duties
