About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Export Controller to join our team in Johannesburg. As a detail-oriented professional with strong export knowledge, you will be responsible for managing airfreight shipments efficiently from start to finish. Your excellent administration skills and attention to detail will enable you to coordinate consignments according to shipper instructions, prepare and verify customs documentation accurately, and manage cargo bookings and shipment records.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate airfreight export consignments according to shipper instructions
- Prepare and verify customs and airline documentation accurately and on time
- Manage cargo bookings, shipment records, and CargoWise data entry
- Communicate with clients and overseas agents regarding shipment progress or issues
- Ensure pre-alerts, uplift confirmations, and PODs are obtained and dispatched promptly
- Handle dangerous goods, short shipments, damages, and losses as required
- Support invoice preparation and maintain accurate shipment documentation
- Provide general administrative support
Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF qualification
- Minimum of 5 years in Freight Forwarding and Clearing air exports experience (not Courier)
- IATA DGR Certification
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
