About the Role
A well-established and reputable organisation within the education sector is seeking a Collections Controller to join its Accounts Receivable team. This role involves outbound collections, engaging directly with account payers to recover outstanding fees, secure payment commitments, and support consistent cash flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Debt Collection (Primary Focus)
- Contact account payers to recover outstanding balances
- Negotiate payment arrangements, including structured payment plans and deadlines
- Consistently follow up on overdue accounts in line with daily call targets
- Manage and resolve broken payment arrangements within defined timeframes
- Account & System Management
- Capture and maintain payment agreements on the debt management system
- Update account and contact information accurately
- Record all interactions and outcomes on the system
- Monitoring & Follow-Ups
- Track outstanding accounts and ensure timely follow-ups
- Confirm payments received and escalate non-payment where necessary
- Implement account holds in line with internal procedures
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
- Minimum 3 years experience in a collections or accounts receivable calling role
- At least 1 year experience within a shared services environment
- Strong telephonic communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work towards daily call targets and collection KPIs
Qualifications
- Experience working on debt collection systems (advantageous)
