Job Summary

Qualifications and Skills Required: Relevant qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field (e.g., BCom, BCompt, or a Financial Diploma). Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role; experience in the education sector is advantageous. Proficiency in financial management software (Pastel 9 preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for interacting with parents, staff, and pupils. Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

Oversee the financial administration of the school, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Prepare and manage annual budgets, including special campus events, tours, and recoveries. Monitor expenditure against budgets and provide variance analysis to leadership. Handle payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes. Manage and reconcile student billing, including ad hoc items such as music, transport, and aftercare. Administer repayment plans and monitor outstanding debts, liaising with parents to resolve queries. Manage procurement processes, including placing purchase orders and monitoring supplier invoices. Ensure compliance with financial policies, statutory requirements, and organisational regulations. Control petty cash, reconcile payments, and monitor monthly campus charges (e.g., rent, utilities). Collaborate with the Principal and Brand Finance Manager to align financial strategies with the institutions goals. Why Join Us? Our client, a leading private school group has an opportunity available for a Campus Bursar to join their team. This position will be based in Centurion. Qualification required: BCom/ BCompt or a 3 year Financial Diploma. Skills and experience required: Previous experience in a school would be advantageous Ability to multitask and keep up with a fast paced environment Strong administrative and reporting skills Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role Must be fully computer literate Pastel 9 would be advantageous Excellent communication with parents and pupils Ability to deal em-pathetically with people at all levels Job description: Report to Brand Finance Manager Check monthly payroll and timesheets and liaise with Head office to resolve anomalies and/or queries Reviews budget, monitors expenditure against actual POs daily, weekly and monthly and advises staff and Principal/s accordingly Prepares annual budget/s, ensure inclusion and planning for special campus events, tours and recoveries Monthly preparation of variance analysis for Principal and Brand Finance Manager Meets with parents to resolve billing and account queries Collate, capture and check ad hoc billing for music, bus and aftercare, books and levies Receives arrears/ outstanding debts and advises Head Office accordingly Reconciles student billing, Manages and monitors repayment plans Manages and controls petty cash, receives cheque and card payments and receipts these Banks payments received for ad hoc purchases and events Monitor and reconcile purchases Places Purchase orders (POs) with suppliers, receive and check invoices and submit for approval Monitors and reports on monthly charges (rent, water, rates, electricity, etc )
