About the Role
As an HR Manager at HotelJobs, you will be responsible for overseeing recruitment, employee relations, labour law compliance, training and development, HR administration, payroll and benefits, policy development, health and safety, and supporting the overall growth of our team. You will work closely with lodge managers, department heads, and finance/payroll teams to ensure seamless operations across all properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee recruitment for all lodges and head office positions, developing job descriptions and managing the full hiring process.
- Coordinate interviews with lodge managers and department heads, manage onboarding and induction for new employees.
- Handle disciplinary procedures, grievances, and conflict resolution, ensuring fair labour practices across all properties.
- Promote positive workplace culture and employee engagement.
- Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation, including Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and Employment Equity Act.
- Maintain proper employee records and HR policies, representing the company in labour matters if necessary.
- Identify training needs for lodge staff, coordinate skills development and hospitality training programs, manage performance reviews and development plans.
- Support leadership development for lodge managers.
- Maintain employee files, contracts, and HR documentation, managing leave records, disciplinary records, and HR reports.
- Oversee HR systems and employee databases.
- Work with finance/payroll teams to ensure accurate payroll, manage employee benefits, leave, and allowances.
- Ensure compliance with statutory deductions.
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistent implementation across all lodges.
- Implement HR best practices within the hospitality industry.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration.
- 58 years of HR experience (preferably in hospitality; tourism, or lodge operations).
- Knowledge of South African labour legislation.
- Experience managing HR for multiple sites or branches.
- Preferred HR certification from South African Board for People Practices (SABPP).
- Experience in the hospitality or lodge industry.
- HRIS and payroll system experience.
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration.
