Our client in Bloemfontein is seeking a reliable, customer-focused General Assistant with proven sales and retail experience to join their team. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting daily store operations, assisting customers, driving sales, and ensuring a neat, well-organised retail environment. This position is ideal for someone who is hands-on, dependable, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.

Minimum requirements

• Matric
• Relevant N4N6 qualification is required (Postgraduate education or equivalent further development)
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans
• Valid driver’s license and own vehicle
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, IQ and Coral
• 3 + years’ experience within retail and sales
• Knowledge of stocktaking procedures
• Familiarity with merchandising and promotional displays
• Willing to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays

Duties and responsibilities

• Assist customers in-store by providing friendly, professional service and product information
• Support sales activities, including upselling and promoting products
• Operate the cash register and handle cash, card, and other payment methods accurately
• Receive, unpack, and organize stock, ensuring shelves are fully stocked and displays are tidy
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with stocktaking and reporting
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment at all times
• Support team members and management in daily store operations
• Manage customer queries and complaints professionally, escalating when necessary
• Assist with merchandising, promotions, and product displays as directed
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and retail operating standards
• Work according to retail hours, including weekends or public holidays when required

Remuneration

R5 549 per month

Work hours

Mondays – Saturdays: 07h30 – 17h30
