About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding to join our dynamic team in Cape Town City Centre. This role offers the opportunity to partner with some of South Africa’s largest logistics and e-commerce clients, work in a fast-paced environment, and contribute to the growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new client acquisition, consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Build, manage, and maintain a strong sales pipeline with a focus on strategic, high-value clients.
  • Conduct in-depth client needs analysis to tailor customised freight solutions.
  • Conceptualise and execute client acquisition strategies for long-term revenue growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operational teams to align service delivery with client expectations.
  • Build strong relationships with senior managers and key decision-makers across the supply chain.
  • Prepare, analyse, and present weekly and monthly client performance reports.
  • Monitor client KPIs and proactively address performance gaps or service issues.
  • Hold client partners accountable for agreed SLA deliverables and operational outcomes.
  • Travel within South Africa as required to support business development efforts.

Requirements

  • 35 years experience in freight forwarding sales (essential).
  • Proven track record in business growth, client acquisition, and sales delivery.
  • Experience generating leads through physical and digital channels.
  • Strong competence in Excel/Google Sheets and PowerPoint/Google Slides.
  • Experience in the e-commerce or tech-driven logistics sector (advantageous).

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree or Advanced Diploma (Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or similar).
