About the Role
The Buyer plays a crucial role in overseeing purchasing, developing new contracts, and procuring quality and cost-efficient supplies for the organization. This position requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and excellent communication abilities. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a purchasing/buying environment, with a strong analytical and strategic mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain an updated list of current and incoming inventory
- Ensure all goods are purchased with correct documentation and approvals in place
- Manage the office-based goods and provisions store
- Assist QSs in procuring products and services cost-effectively
- Verify suppliers/service providers documentation for BBBEE purposes
- Administer tenders and procurement processes
- Negotiate, establish, and administer contracts
- Multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
Requirements
- At least 8 to 10 years of prior experience within a purchasing/buying environment
- Good analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, policy, and systems
- Ability to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
- Excellent written and oral communication ability in both English and Afrikaans
Qualifications
- Matriculation / Grade 12 Certificate
- Certificate in the use of Accounting Software
- Diploma/Certificate/Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Accounting, Business Management, or a similar field
- KPIs:
- Financial: Maximize product/services savings and discounts earned by delivering cost-effective procurement solutions and buying smartly.
- Customer: Deliver purchasing requirements as needed on a right first time, every time basis
- Internal Business Processes: Ensure that the entire business complies with all procurement processes from initiation to completion.
