Cape Town City Centre: Construction Director

About the Role

The Construction Director will be responsible for the end-to-end construction delivery of all power generation and grid infrastructure projects across Phelans portfolio. This includes utility-scale Solar PV plants, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), MV/HV substations, and associated grid connection infrastructure across multiple regions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (Electrical preferred)
• Minimum 15 years experience in large-scale power or renewable infrastructure construction
• Proven delivery of multiple utility-scale Solar PV projects, including programmes exceeding several hundred MW
• Demonstrated experience with BESS deployment and HV substation construction
• Strong understanding of EPC/EPCM contracts, grid compliance, and construction law
• Experience managing large, multi-project capital portfolios (R10bn preferred)
