About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Data Engineer with a strong background in hunting bugs and delivering scalable data solutions to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining complex data pipelines, as well as ensuring the smooth operation of cloud-based data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement data pipelines using pipeline orchestration tools
  • Develop and maintain distributed processing systems to handle large datasets
  • Utilize advanced SQL and Python skills to extract insights from data lakes and warehouses
  • Apply data modelling techniques to ensure data quality and integrity
  • Handle structured and unstructured data anomalies, ensuring data consistency and accuracy

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and maintaining robust data pipelines, building and optimizing databases and data warehouses, and deploying AI/ML models to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and maintaining robust data pipelines (ETL/ELT) to ingest data from APIs, IoT meters, SCADA systems, and financial platforms
  • Building and optimizing databases and data warehouses for high volume, high frequency datasets
  • Creating APIs and integrations that automate data flow and boost operational efficiency
  • Applying data quality checks, anomaly detection, and reconciliation routines to keep everything accurate and reliable
  • Deploying AI/ML models for forecasting, anomaly detection, and optimization
  • Supporting financial and technical modelling for renewable energy and efficiency investments

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-5 years experience in Data Engineer, Software Development and Applied Analytics
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases
  • API development skills
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS)
  • Familiarity with DevOps / MLOps pipelines, version control, and automated deployment
  • Experience with Power BI
