Job Description

REQUIREMENTS Matric / Grade 12. 3 5 Years sales experience (experience in construction, logistics, manufacturing, or related industries will be advantageous). Valid drivers licence and own reliable vehicle is essential. Willingness to travel to clients and container depots as required. Computer literacy. Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work independently. RESPONSIBILITIES Proactively source and develop new sales opportunities through cold calling, site visits, and networking. Sell, buy, and rent new and used shipping containers to individuals and businesses. Generate accurate quotations and proposals based on client specifications Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to closing. Coordinate and manage container conversion projects, including tracking progress and liaising between internal teams and clients. Conduct client visits and accompany customers to depots to view available container units. Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular follow-ups and clear communication. Maintain accurate client and sales records. Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets.

Minimum requirements: Matric. Diploma or certificate in engineering, fluid handling systems, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related technical field is advantageous but not required. Minimum two years experience in pump or industrial equipment sales or similar, with pumps (centrifugal, submersible, positive displacement, etc.) as an advantage. Technical background experience essential, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. Experience working with industries such as water treatment, oil and gas, HVAC, manufacturing, or mining is advantageous. Personality Traits: Tech-savvy. Negotiation skills. Presentation skills. Sales closing ability. Customer relationship management. Market research skills. Contract negotiation knowledge. Ability to work under pressure. Verbal and written communication (Afrikaans & English). Interpersonal influence. Independent and team-working capability. Travel readiness. Time management. Neat and professional appearance. Duties and responsibilities: Understand pump technologies, fluid mechanics, and hydraulic systems. Size and select pumps based on system requirements. Read and interpret technical drawings, spares lists, P&IDs, and schematics. Use pump software such as Pedrollo and Zenit. Apply knowledge of mechanical seals, motors, and variable frequency drives. Negotiate, present, and close sales effectively. Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships. Provide strong customer service and resolve problems. Conduct market research and competitor analysis. Manage sales processes and negotiate contracts. Work under pressure and meet deadlines for sales orders or quotes. Communicate clearly in both Afrikaans and English. Influence decision-makers through strong interpersonal skills. Work independently and collaboratively within a team. Travel locally or regionally, often 70% of the week, at company cost. Drive using a valid drivers licence. Organise and manage time efficiently. Use own transport to work daily. About the Role

We are seeking an experienced External Sales Representative to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key player in our sales strategy, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding our customer base. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial equipment or pumps, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed monthly sales targets
  • Conduct site visits and presentations to potential customers
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing clients
  • Provide technical support and guidance on pump systems and fluid mechanics
  • Maintain accurate records of sales interactions and customer data

Requirements

  • Minimum grade 12 / Matric certificate (copy of results required)
  • 13 years external sales experience, preferably in industrial equipment or pumps
  • Basic technical knowledge of pump systems, fluid mechanics, or hydraulic systems
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Fluent in Afrikaans and English (written & verbal)
