Job Description

This role sits at the heart of a dynamic trading operation, where you will be responsible for balancing buying, selling, and relationship management across both customers and growers. Key Responsibilities: Sales & Customer Development: Manage and grow existing customer accounts Identify and develop new business opportunities across retail, hospitality, and wholesale channels Prepare quotes, manage orders, and ensure successful delivery Analyse customer trends and buying patterns Buying & Procurement: Source and procure specialty vegetables, and exotic & tropical produce Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international growers Monitor market trends, pricing, and seasonal availability Relationship Management: Act as a key point of contact between customers and suppliers Build long-term, trust-based partnerships Resolve issues relating to quality, pricing, and delivery Commercial Coordination: Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery Maintain accurate records of pricing, orders, and supplier agreements Support forecasting and supply planning processes Market & Product Development: Identify new product opportunities and emerging food trends Support the introduction of new product lines into the market Minimum Requirements: 13 years experience in a commercial, sales, procurement, or supply chain role Experience within fresh produce, agriculture, or FMCG (advantageous) Strong communication skills (English & Afrikaans preferred) Solid commercial understanding of pricing, margins, and trading Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel locally and internationally Valid passport Key Competencies: Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong “hunter” approach to business development Relationship-driven and confident engaging with farmers and clients Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced, trading environment Passion for food, agriculture, and market-driven businesses What Success Looks Like: Consistent supply of high-quality fresh produce Growth in customer accounts and revenue Strong and reliable supplier relationships Seamless coordination between supply and demand Why Join This Opportunity?: Be part of a high-growth, entrepreneurial business in the agricultural export space Opportunity to own and grow a product category Direct exposure to international markets and trading environments Clear pathway to a Commercial Manager role Performance-based incentives linked to your impact How to Apply: If youre ready to grow your career in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment, apply directly by submitting your CV.
