About the Role

The Night Auditor is a critical role that ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, while also providing exceptional guest service in a fast-paced hotel environment. As a Night Auditor, you will be responsible for auditing daily revenue reports, reconciling credit card transactions, and preparing financial reports to support the smooth operation of the Front Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit all daily revenue reports to ensure accurate income accounting
  • Verify actual departure report and scrutinize guest checkout folios to eradicate discrepancies
  • Scrutinise front office allowances, rebates, discounts, paid outs, and room transfers for correct processing
  • Reconcile credit card transactions processed through electronic data capture and batch close
  • Ensure reconciliation of promotion/loyalty programs, charge slips with guest departure folio
  • Monitor documentation of all transactions by Front Office associates
  • Prepare and process reports generated e.g. Daily Handover and Financial Reports
  • Assist in Front Office Operations/Systems as required
  • Balance Food and Beverage pre-lists and report discrepancies to the Front of House and Accounts Manager
  • Report major operational matters to the Accounts Manager and ensure other outlets are performing during the night

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • At least 2-3 years in similar position in comparable hotels
  • Accounting qualification/experience
  • Ability to respond properly in hotel emergency/safety situations
  • Fluency in English (additional language advantageous)
  • Proficiency in Front Office tasks
  • Good networking skills
  • Good organising skills
  • Ability to operate computer systems with ease (knowledge of Microsoft Office & Amadeus)
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in difficult situations
  • Understanding of travel and the tourism industry
