About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant to oversee our full payroll accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the general ledger for South Africa, African countries, and the UK
- Ensure accurate payroll processing and timely employee payments
- Maintain accurate payroll records and statutory reporting
- Reconcile payroll accounts, resolve discrepancies, and support payroll and benefits audits
- Collaborate closely with the Employee Benefits Department to maintain accurate employee data
- Drive process and system improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy
- Oversee the financial impact of share incentive schemes and manage dividend statements
- Assist with broader accounting and finance functions as required
Requirements
- Minimum of four years relevant experience in accounting, with at least three years focused on payroll and accounts payable
- Minimum of two years experience leading and managing a team with full KPI responsibility
- In-depth knowledge of payroll systems, payroll accounting principles, and South African payroll and tax legislation, with exposure to multi-country payroll environments
- Proven proficiency in payroll software such as Oracle
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll legislation and accounting practices relevant to South Africa and other African regions
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
