About the Role
Hire Resolve’s client, a civil construction company based in Cape Town, is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join their team. As a key member of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of their fleet of heavy-duty construction equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and Diagnose Equipment: Use diagnostic tools and manuals to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
- Repair and Maintain Machinery: Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, hydraulics, and electrical components.
- Routine Servicing: Carry out scheduled maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, greasing, and inspections.
- Overhaul Components: Dismantle, assess, and rebuild engines, gearboxes, differentials, and hydraulic pumps as needed.
- Troubleshoot Faults in the Field: Respond to breakdowns on construction sites and carry out urgent repairs to minimize downtime.
- Operate Tools and Equipment: Use hoists, hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic devices safely and efficiently.
- Keep Maintenance Records: Document all work performed, parts used, and time taken using logbooks or software systems.
Requirements
- Trade Test Certificate: Diesel Mechanic or Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic (recognized qualification).
- Drivers License: Code 8 (EB) or higher valid and in good standing.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience working with heavy-duty construction equipment.
- Technical Skills: Proven expertise in:
- Fault finding and diagnostics
- Mechanical and electrical repairs
- Servicing and maintenance
