Job Description
A fast-growing business in the technology sector is looking to appoint an experienced and ambitious, commercially minded Head of Finance to their team based in Cape Town. Hybrid work options are available.
This is a newly created role, designed to elevate finance from a compliance and reporting function into a strategic partner to the business. Reporting to the CFO and with a Finance Manager as a direct report, the Head of Finance will play a central role in scaling the company, implementing robust systems, and driving financial insights that support decision-making.
The ideal candidate will hold a CA(SA), CIMA, or similar designation, and possess at least 5 to 10 years progressive finance experience, ideally with FP&A/commercial finance exposure. A definite advantage will be experience with implementing systems and processes in high-growth environments, forecasting, scenario analysis, cash flow management, and strategic modelling. The candidate must be comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and innovative environment

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the finance function, stepping up from operational finance to strategic FP&A.
- Build and implement systems, processes, and controls to support scaling.
- Develop, own, and continuously improve the companys financial planning and analysis (FP&A) framework.
- Prepare annual budgets and rolling forecasts; perform variance analysis to track performance against targets.
- Build scenario models (best/worst/base cases) to support decision-making and risk management.
- Partner with leadership to model and evaluate new business opportunities, product launches, and pricing strategies.
- Track and report on SaaS and usage-based metrics.
- Design and monitor company-wide KPIs, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Conduct profitability analysis by product, client segment, and channel.
- Drive cash flow forecasting, ensuring sustainability.
- Support fundraising efforts: investor presentations, financial models, and due diligence preparation.
- Deliver board-level packs and executive dashboards with actionable insights.
- Partner with sales, product, and operations to translate financial insights into business decisions.
- Ad hoc duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- CA(SA), CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- 5-10 years progressive finance experience, ideally with FP&A/commercial finance exposure.
- Track record of implementing systems and processes in high-growth environments.
- Experience using Xero or similar accounting packages.
- Strong skills in forecasting, scenario analysis, cash flow management, and strategic modelling.
- Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and innovative environment.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to challenge assumptions and guide decisions.
Remuneration:
- R1,200,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience.
