About the Role
Mecad Systems is seeking a highly skilled Health & Safety And Quality Assurance Officer to join our team in Cape Town. This role will play a critical part in ensuring our packaging and manufacturing processes meet the highest standards, while promoting a strong safety culture across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain QA processes and procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks on processes and finished products.
- Write and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Collaborate with production teams to identify and address manufacturing issues.
- Monitor, analyse and report on quality performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Provide training and support to staff on quality assurance processes and best practices. Facilitate training of SOPs
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to finished goods quality.
- Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Perform sporadic production checks and follow through on HSE minutes, findings, and improvements.
Requirements
- Skills in quality management, industrial engineering, or a related field.
- Additional certifications such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Six Sigma (preferred).
- Professional certifications in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, ISO Auditor) preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Implementation and working knowledge of ISO 9001.
