About the Role
Hire Resolve’s client is seeking an experienced Inventory Manager to oversee all aspects of inventory management within the Mining Industry, specifically in the Cape Town region. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring stock levels, coordinating procurement and transportation of materials, implementing inventory control processes, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of inventory data.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies and best practices in compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Monitor and analyze inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
- Coordinate and oversee the procurement process, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contracting.
- Collaborate with various departments to forecast future inventory needs and ensure timely availability of materials.
- Monitor and control inventory costs by implementing efficient inventory control systems.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure reliable and cost-effective material sourcing.
- Establish and maintain an accurate inventory tracking system, including regular physical inventory counts, reconciliations, and cycle counting procedures.
- Supervise a team of inventory control personnel, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.
- Prepare regular inventory reports, including stock levels, consumption trends, and forecasting, for management review.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies or issues in an efficient and timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all inventory management activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
- Proven work experience in inventory management, preferably within the mining industry.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control processes, best practices, and software systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to inventory management in the mining industry.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Working knowledge of SAGE Evolution.
