About the Role
Pro Tem is seeking a highly skilled and detail-conscious Junior Bookkeeper to join our team in Cape Town. As a key member of our accounting services team, you will be responsible for managing various clients’ payrolls, statutory submissions with SARS/Dept of Labour, and processing client data in Xero. You will work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide excellent customer service. If you have a passion for accounting and excel at multitasking, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture monthly payrolls for various clients and submit by relevant due dates
- Manage statutory submission requirements with SARS/Dept of Labour (IRP5s, EMP501s, EMP201s, etc)
- Process client data in Xero and manage DEXT
- Process debtors and/or sales invoices
- Process creditors
- Process and reconcile bank statements
- Process payroll journals and salary control reconciliation
- Process fixed assets register (on Xero or Excel)
- Process all other journals
- Complete VAT output and balance reconciliation
- Follow up on payments due to SARS for clients
Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in accounting or related field
- At least 1 year of experience as a Bookkeeper
- Experience with Xero would be beneficial
- Strong administration skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Afrikaans
- Detail-consciousness with a drive to implement and complete tasks at hand
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office essentials
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and against deadlines
- Approachable and well-presented demeanor
