Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPA):
- Reports directly to the Golf Shop Manager.
- Is responsible for continually increasing sales and maintaining the optimal customer service levels in the golf shop.
- All duties are performed under standard supervision.
- Supervises and assists in the daily golf shop operation, which includes opening and closing of the golf shop, selling of shop merchandise and supervising part-time workers.
- Ensure that the cleanliness in the golf shop remains at an optimal level.
- The Golf Shop forms part of the daily golf operations at the Golf Club, and the Golf Shop Assistant is responsible for assisting in creating a first-class experience to each customer, visiting the club.
- Adheres to all procedures as specified by golf shop policy documents.
- Is responsible for maintaining a well merchandised shop, as specified by the retail- and merchandising managers.
- Assists Golf Shop Manager in conducting product, sales and service training.
- Attends Golf Shop meetings and provide feedback on the operation.
- Handles customer complaints and resolve if possible. Should the Golf Shop Assistant not be able to resolve a problem, he/she needs to take the customer to a supervisor who can assist.
- Prepare daily reports & cash-ups as required.
- Performs stock counts as and when required by the Golf Shop Manager.
- Administers and convey the rules & regulations established for the club facility.
- Promotes the use of all golf course facilities to all members & guests.
- Assists in coordinating and facilitating golf competitions.
- Promotes the golf lessons provided by the PGA Professional.
- Assists in scoring if the Club requires the Pro Shop to manage scoring on member competition days
- Assists with repairs – regripping and other repairs if the correct tools are available.
- Check all stock against corresponding invoices when delivered. Keeps all documentation (invoices, credit notes, return slips and repair slips) in order, which is to be handed over to the golf shop manager daily.
- Assists with goods receiving of new orders and ensures that the stock sheet on the POS system remains well organized and grouped in the product categories, as specified by the retail manager.
- The goods receiving policy must be adhered to. All documentation must be sent back to the Retail Coordinator with the shop barcode, retail pricing, and signature confirming that the stock received corresponds with invoice quantities and the date of capturing the documentation.
- Maintains awareness of market trends in the retail industry, understanding forthcoming customer initiatives and monitoring what local competitors are doing.
