About the Role
We are seeking a driven and detail-obsessed Assistant Housekeeping Manager to join our team at a landmark five-star hotel in Cape Town. As part of our high-performing housekeeping department, you will be responsible for upholding exceptional standards across guest rooms, public spaces, laundry, and heart-of-house areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring five-star service standards are consistently met
- Oversee guest rooms, public areas, laundry/valet, and uniform room operations
- Drive cleanliness, presentation, and design integrity across all spaces
- Monitor labour costs, productivity, and scheduling to align with financial targets
- Manage stock control, forecasting, and inventory reporting within budget guidelines
- Track and control departmental budgets, invoices, and cost efficiencies
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on stock usage and financial performance
- Support preventative maintenance programs in collaboration with Engineering
- Address guest concerns promptly and professionally
- Coach, train, and performance-manage team members to maintain LQA standards
- Assist with renovations, refurbishments, and décor programs
- Participate in Duty Manager shifts and lead by example in operational decision-making
Requirements
- Proven experience in a luxury hotel housekeeping leadership role
- Strong financial acumen – budgeting, forecasting, stock management, reporting
- Solid understanding of luxury quality assurance standards
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident leader with strong coaching and communication ability
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve challenges effectively
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.)
