About the Role
A leading cosmetics company in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Regulatory Chemist to join their team. The successful incumbent will play a crucial role in formulating and developing innovative cosmetics products, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and facilitate development of innovative cosmetics products.
- Provide updates on R&D progress and insights, participating in project team decisions.
- Create and maintain all necessary documentation for product development (lab notebooks, specifications, technical test methods/data, etc.).
- Conduct testing for all products developed (efficacy, stability, etc.) and adhere to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Operate basic lab equipment and have hands-on laboratory experience.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with production to transition formulations to full-scale manufacturing, supporting plant trials or start of production.
- Maintain current products in market and support brand business.
- Identify solutions for manufacturing issues, qualify alternate source raw materials for purchasing, and reduce product costs.
- Proactively research new concepts, materials, and technical opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (cosmetic chemistry, chemistry, biological sciences or chemical engineering preferred).
- 5 years relevant experience.
