About the Role
A leading logistics company in Gauteng is seeking an experienced SHEQ Officer to join their team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation concerning Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as implementing and maintaining a robust SHEQ management system.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation concerning Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Conduct critical SHEQ inspections and maintain up-to-date records.
- Investigate, manage, and implement preventive measures for incidents and accidents.
- Drive SHEQ awareness on sites through toolbox talks, safety awareness campaigns, and visual safety management.
- Maintain and file SHEQ risk assessments and legal appointments correctly.
- Ensure compliance with Imperial CLDC SHEQ requirements, BATSA requirements, as well as other regulations.
- Compile monthly safety and sustainability reports for the sites.
- Ensure that all SHEQ filing is up to date and easily retrievable during audits.
- Improve HSE culture by engaging with staff on HSE matters.
Requirements
- Degree in Safety Management or equivalent qualification.
- SAMTRAC/NADSAM or equivalent qualification (advantageous).
- License Code 8.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in SHEQ, with a working knowledge of the logistics industry.
- Experience in OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, RTMS, and ISO 9001 protocols (advantageous).
- Experience in a dynamic, high-volume operating environment.
- Employee Relations and Conflict Management skills.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Procedures, Requirements, and Legislation.
