About the Role
A leading cosmetics company in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Regulatory Chemist to join their team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for developing innovative cosmetics products and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and facilitate development of innovative cosmetics products.
- Provide updates on R&D progress and insights, participating in project team decisions.
- Create and maintain all necessary documentation (lab notebooks, specifications, technical test methods/data, etc.).
- Conduct testing for all products developed (efficacy, stability, etc.), adhering to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Operate basic lab equipment and have hands-on laboratory experience.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with production to transition formulations to full-scale manufacturing, including support during plant trials or start of production.
- Maintain current products in market and support brand business.
- Identify solutions for manufacturing issues, qualify alternate source raw materials, and reduce product costs.
- Proactively research new concepts, materials, and technical opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (cosmetic chemistry, chemistry, biological sciences or chemical engineering preferred).
- 5 years relevant experience.
