A leading food company situated in Cape Town is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced Senior Food Technologist to join their team.

The successful incumbent for this position will be responsible for:

Category Management:

• Investigate and solve any microbiological issues on components and final products.
• Investigate and solve any quality issues on components and final products.
• Investigate customer complaints and implement appropriate corrections, corrective action, and preventative actions.
• Investigate RTVs and implement appropriate corrections, corrective action, and preventative actions.
• Investigate non-conforming shelf-life results and implement appropriate corrections, corrective action and preventative actions.
• Perform check weights and wash outs on final products, investigate possible non-conformances and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Conduct product audits on components or final products as required (e.g., based on customer complaints, RTVs, Taste and Texture issues, microbiological issues, as per internal audit schedule, etc.).

Factory Trials and NPD Process:

• Accompany WW Technologist & Selector in factory when visiting.
• Attend internal 4Ps.
• Attend factory trials to launch of own product category.
• Check packaging proofs of new or upgraded products.
• Analyze NPD recipe & process to ensure compatibility with factory and consistently safe and quality product.

Other:

• Monitor GMP practices in factory and report any non-conformances.
• Report any food safety or quality related issues as noticed in the factory.
• Make corrections; implement corrective and preventative actions as required.

Key requirements:

• Recognized tertiary qualification in Food Technology/Food Science;
• Minimum 5 8 years experience in the Food or Beverage Industry with specific focus on quality assurance.
• A strong technical ability.
