Job Description

A leading vertically integrated engineering, procurement, and construction company operating across Africa, is currently seeking a skilled Solar PV Construction Manager to join their dynamic team in Cape Town (CPT) or Johannesburg (JHB). The role involves overseeing all technical construction aspects of solar PV projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain construction progress in line with the project schedule.

  • Manage subcontractor scope of works (electrical and mechanical).

  • Oversee quality control for construction and installation; report findings to the Project and Technical Manager.

  • Ensure compliance with project Health & Safety site requirements.

  • Manage relationships with subcontractors and internal technicians.

  • Review and provide feedback on engineering designs.

  • Implement construction according to engineering mechanical and electrical designs.

  • Assist in the design of solar PV energy systems as needed.

  • Support installation and construction works where required.

  • Address operations and maintenance issues for sites under SLA.

  • Develop departmental tools and documentation.

  • Ensure ISO9001 and ISO45001 compliance during construction.

  • Adhere to relevant codes and regulations in installation sectors.

  • Provide feedback on project learnings to the Engineering Department for continual improvement.

  • Assist with handover of systems to the Operations & Maintenance department.

  • Collaborate closely with the appointed Project Manager.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager in the solar PV sector.

  • Strong knowledge of solar PV installation standards, codes, and regulations.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and subcontractor teams.

  • Familiarity with ISO9001 and ISO45001 compliance.

  • Solid understanding of both electrical and mechanical aspects of solar PV systems.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • Capability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic industry and keep up with solar industry trends.

  • Willingness to assist in hands-on installation if required.
