About the Role
An established professional accounting and tax practice in the Northern Suburbs is seeking a Tax Compliance Officer to join their growing tax department. The firm is an accredited SAIT training office, offering an excellent environment for professionals looking to further develop their tax career within a structured and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit Income Tax returns based on financial statements provided by the Audit and Bookkeeping departments
- Prepare Income Tax returns based on client-provided financial information
- Ensure all supporting documentation is attached to tax submissions to prevent unnecessary SARS queries or revised assessments
- Submit completed returns to clients for signature and lodge returns with SARS within required deadlines
- Handle SARS queries and correspondence relating to submitted returns
- Monitor and track the submission of tax returns to ensure deadlines are met
- Assist with client registrations with SARS where required
- Prepare statements of assets and liabilities, capital reconciliations and tax computations
- Calculate third and additional top-up tax payments when necessary
- Maintain accurate records and ensure effective tax administration
Requirements
- Relevant degree in Accounting, Tax, or Finance
- 23 years experience in a tax compliance or tax administration role
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Solid understanding of South African Income Tax legislation
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English (essential)
- Ability to manage deadlines and maintain high levels of accuracy
