About the Role
To assist driver in every aspect of delivery to customer in an efficient and safe manner by following all company procedures and safety standards. Maintain a positive relationship with customers by maintaining professional representation of the company in all interactions with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with navigating to each destination on schedule and recording delivery logs.
- Update the driver of any route changes.
- Document start and end times at each stop for reporting purposes.
- Analyse, and interpret invoices, delivery sheets, and complete time sheets.
- Provide support to drivers in obtaining authorization for COD customers and liaise with the accounts department as and when requested by driver.
- Assist with the offloading of products by taking direction from the driver and working as a team to ensure accurate on-time deliveries.
- Ensure accuracy of deliveries when booked with a new driver by taking full responsibility of the standard operating procedures that guide the processes of deliveries.
- Monitor stock on delivery to prevent theft.
- Assists in securing loads to avoid damaged products by making sure that the products are loaded securely and will not move or get damaged in transit.
- Properly use unloading standard procedures to ensure accurate delivery of product and to eliminate damage to product.
- Unload products at customer location in adherence with customer’s requirements.
- Ensure that the vehicle equipment is clean.
- Assists the driver throughout the shift with vehicle maintenance and cleanliness.
- Keep vehicle, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order.
- Check loading equipment to ensure acceptable safe conditions for delivery prior to loading truck.
- Properly use equipment as per company standards to ensure safety and minimal maintenance costs.
Requirements
Minimum Grade 10
Min 2 years’ experience in warehouse /distribution/ delivery – preferably food products
Knowledge and experience in safety practices and procedures applicable to handling of food products
