About the Role
Fouche & Co Recruitment is seeking an experienced Cutting Room Manager to oversee daily operations in our Durban-based clothing manufacturing facility. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring production targets are met while maintaining high quality standards and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily cutting room operations to ensure production targets are met
- Plan and manage cutting schedules in line with production requirements
- Supervise cutting room staff and ensure productivity and quality standards
- Ensure accurate fabric utilization and minimize waste
- Interpret markers, lay plans, and technical specifications
- Manage fabric issuing and ensure correct quantities are allocated to orders
- Monitor quality control throughout the cutting process
- Ensure machinery is maintained and operated safely
- Liaise closely with production, planning, and quality departments
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant cutting environment
Requirements
- Proven experience in a cutting room supervisory or management role within a clothing manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of workwear or structured garment production (advantageous)
- Solid understanding of fabric types, lay planning, and marker efficiency
- Ability to manage a team and work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Good communication skills
- Hands-on and operationally involved leadership style
