About the Role
The Marine Manufacturing Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing marine manufacturing programmes in alignment with national and provincial maritime sector strategies, overseeing projects related to boatbuilding, ship repair, component manufacturing, and related downstream opportunities, and coordinating with stakeholders (industry players, government, academia, and communities) to drive sector growth and competitiveness. This role requires a strong understanding of South Africa’s maritime industry policies, opportunities, and challenges, as well as experience in programme management, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement marine manufacturing programmes in alignment with national and provincial maritime sector strategies
- Oversee projects related to boatbuilding, ship repair, component manufacturing, and related downstream opportunities
- Coordinate with stakeholders (industry players, government, academia, and communities) to drive sector growth and competitiveness
- Identify opportunities for enterprise development and localisation within the marine manufacturing value chain
- Support the integration of SMMEs, youth, and women-owned enterprises into the sector
- Promote research, innovation, and technology adoption to advance marine manufacturing capabilities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Management, or related field (masters degree advantageous)
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in the maritime/marine manufacturing sector or related industries
- Proven track record in programme management, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery
- Understanding of South Africa’s maritime industry policies, opportunities, and challenges
- Experience in fundraising, proposal development, and donor reporting will be an added advantage
Qualifications
- Completed Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
