VACANCY: SALES ASSISTANT | PLUMBING DIVISION | UMHLANGA A well-established Sanitaryware Retailer is seeking a Sales Assistant who is passionate about plumbing products and delivering excellent customer service. The ideal candidate must have Matric and a proven track record in plumbing sales and be able to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment. Key Responsibilities: Assist walk-in customers, contractors, plumbers, and DIY enthusiasts with product selection, advice, and recommendations on plumbing fittings, pipes, valves, taps, geysers, drainage systems, tools, and related hardware. Achieve and exceed monthly sales targets through active selling, upselling, and cross-selling. Provide expert technical advice on plumbing products, installations, and troubleshooting to build customer trust and loyalty. Process sales transactions accurately using POS systems, handle cash/ card payments, and manage stock queries. Maintain high standards of store presentation, including merchandising, shelf stocking, and product displays in the plumbing section. Handle customer queries, returns, and complaints professionally. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations and stock availability. Stay updated on new plumbing products, trends, and promotions. Requirements: Proven plumbing sales experience (minimum 23 years in a retail plumbing/hardware store, builders’ merchant, or similar environment essential). Strong product knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, brands, and applications (e.g., PVC, copper, brass fittings, water supply, drainage, sanitaryware). Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Customer-service oriented with a friendly, helpful, and proactive attitude. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced retail setting. Reliable, punctual, and physically fit (able to lift stock and stand for long periods). Basic computer skills (POS systems, stock checks). Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport (advantageous).
