About the Role
Work Africa is seeking an experienced Installation Technician to join our team in East London. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining hydroponic systems, greenhouse structures, and agricultural automation equipment. This role requires a strong technical background, physical fitness, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission greenhouse process computers; fertiliser dosing systems both plumbing and control
- Install and commission greenhouse automation motor/gearboxes, fans and similar electrically operated devices
- Install and commission irrigation controllers
- Service and calibrate equipment like tools and machines
- Onsite or remote trouble-shooting of equipment malfunctions, assisting customers with DIY repairs, sometimes after hours
- Assisting customers with programming of controllers
Requirements
- Valid Drivers License (Code 08 not negotiable)
- Basic electrical and plumbing knowledge essential.
- Ability to work with tools, power equipment, and technical instruments.
- Ability to diagnose problems and implement solutions.
- Physically fit and able to work at heights and in outdoor conditions.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ideally, must have electronics skills (RS485 networks and controllers like gate motors or irrigation computers) and some experience with industrial automation and/or irrigation systems.
- In-house fabrication (welding, fitting) of equipment like steel pump stands, frames and pump units
- Onsite or remote trouble-shooting of equipment malfunctions
Salary & Benefits
Salary market related depending on experience + company phone, vehicle for business purposes, corporate clothing and all travel expenses.
