Job Summary

Our client in the Transport industry is seeking a General Worker/Deport Checker based at their Depot to oversee general duties around the depot. 

• Oversee Front hooks and Trailers according to checklists and report errors that occur
• Check that these errors have been corrected before the vehicles leave.
• Ensure that vehicles are full of diesel.
• Ensure vehicles are in roadworthy condition.
• Responsible for checking all recliner equipment at Wellington depot. Ensure that the correct equipment is loaded on all vehicles at all times.
• Responsible for ensuring that the equipment on vehicles is in good condition at all times.
• Report abnormalities to operations support immediately.
• Ensure that vehicle and depot windows are closed, and that keys are with security.

• Checking equipment and tools and reporting irregularities.
• Issuing tools and equipment as discussed and keeping a register of them.
• Opening, closing, nailing, sewing, marking, tying, filling or emptying bales, barrels, packing cases, boxes, cans, cartons, boxes, bags or containers.
• Assist with loading or unloading containers.
• Seal or open messages, packages, letters or goods and deliver or transport them on foot or by pedal bicycle, tricycle or hand vehicle.
• Carrying, lifting, pulling, pulling, packing, unpacking, repacking, stacking, rolling, coiling, moving, loading, unloading or unpacking any goods, containers, packages or vehicles, wheelbarrows, trolleys or other manual vehicles, except through the use of power equipment .
• Paste labels on goods or mark them, provide them with a brand, stamp or stencil, or perforate labels.
• Packaging, wrapping or tying up goods.
• Look after motor vehicles, goods or cargo on motor vehicles.
• Repair packing cases, boxes, crates or pallets by hand.
• Apply paint or anti-rust agents by hand to goods, trailers or lean-tos.
• Remove, replace, change or inflate wheels or outer or inner tires of motor vehicles, backhoes, mobile lifting devices, trailers, lean-tos, bicycles, wheelbarrows, trolleys, or other hand vehicles, or repair inner tires; and any other manual labor not specifically defined herein.
• Responsible for ensuring that the grounds are kept clean and tidy at all times

• Responsible for ensuring that the area around the operational support and security offices is kept clean and tidy at all times.
• Replace towels, soap or toilet paper.
• Cleaning goods or containers.
• Scoop or scatter stone, gravel, soil, clay, sand or other raw materials with a spade.
• Drill, scrape or sand by hand.
• Wash overalls, uniforms, protective clothing, packaging material or blankets.
• Cleaning premises, pallets, vehicles or machinery.
• Putting up or taking apart ready-made cardboard or fiberboard boxes or similar containers by hand.
• Operate a hand crane, hoist, pump, roll-off machine, jack or winch.
• An artisan assists in a different way than by using the tools of his trade independently.
• Repair packing cases, boxes, crates or pallets by hand.
• Diesel refill
