Job Description
The Role
You will support the design, testing, and maintenance of embedded electronic and control systems used in underground mining equipment. Working closely with senior engineers, you’ll be involved across the full product lifecycle — from concept and prototyping through to testing and field support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of embedded electronic systems
- Support firmware development for microcontroller-based systems (C/C++)
- Assist with schematic review, PCB testing, and fault-finding
- Work with sensors, actuators, CAN bus, and other industrial communication protocols
- Support system testing, validation, and documentation
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of electronic systems on machinery
- Ensure designs comply with safety, quality, and mining industry standards
About You
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, or similar
- Basic experience with embedded C/C++ programming
- Understanding of microcontrollers and digital/analogue electronics
- Interest in heavy machinery, mining, or industrial equipment
- Willingness to work in a site-based or underground environment when required
- Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to learn
Desirable (but Not Essential)
- Experience with CAN, J1939, or similar protocols
- Exposure to PCB design tools (e.g. Altium, KiCad)
- Familiarity with functional safety or safety-critical systems
- Previous internship, placement, or project experience in embedded systems
