Job Description
The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, accounting operations, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis, while supporting strategic decision-making within the organisation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong professional values, accountability, and the ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment. A proactive mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to see projects and reporting cycles through to completion will be essential for success in this role.
Duties:
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, biannual, and annual financial reports and statements.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform financial variance analysis and report on key performance deviations.
- Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely posting of transactions.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and intercompany transactions.
- Ensure the completion of month-end processes, reconciliations, and reporting deadlines.
- Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls to safeguard company assets.
- Assist with VAT calculations, submissions, and related tax compliance.
- Support regulatory reporting and manage queries from relevant regulatory bodies.
- Liaise with external auditors and assist with audit processes and requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to junior finance team members and encourage collaboration with stakeholders.
- Conduct financial analysis and process improvement initiatives to support strategic decisions and operational efficiencies.
Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- BCom Accounting
- BCom Honours / CTA
- CA(SA)
Experience:
- Completed SAICA Articles
- 1 year post experience in financial accounting is beneficial
- Experience within the insurance industry
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and insurance regulatory requirements
Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Strong analytical and critical thinking ability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
