About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cash Book Controller to join our team at Hazyview Luxury Lodge. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the lodge, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to management. With a strong background in accounting and excellent administrative skills, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the lodge.
Key Responsibilities
- Full cash book control functions for Share Block and Homeowners Association
- Daily cash-ups from reception, checking and balancing credit cards with settlement amounts and receptionist control accounts
- Capturing receipts from bank statements and allocation to customer accounts daily
- Cash-ups for reception and Pro Shop revenue (at least weekly)
- Prepare banking of cash after cash-ups in co-ordination with CIT contractor weekly
- Invoicing Pro Shop revenue after cash-ups
- Assist with capturing payments when needed
- Bank reconciliations with bank statements
- Control of petty cash and additional float
- Issue outsourced invoices monthly
- Manage intercompany invoices/credit notes of revenue transfers and consolidate to loan accounts monthly
- Sundry account summaries monthly
- Capturing monthly journals for Finance Controller
- Submit and control insurance claims and payouts, recover excesses
- Submit capex documentation and distribute approved documentation
- Assist Finance Controller with month-end reporting packs, balancing, and preparation
- Provide assistance to the rest of the department as required
Requirements
- Minimum of five years experience in a similar accounting position
- Excellent administrative and communication skills; people-oriented
- Fully bilingual, both spoken and written
- Motivated self-starter, strong on meeting deadlines
- Prepared to work overtime when necessary
- Computer literacy MS Office (Word, Excel), accounting software knowledge compulsory; QSA knowledge advantageous
Qualifications
Minimum Grade 12 Post-matric qualification in accounting/accounting software (e.g., N6)
