This role focuses on guiding guests through immersive safari experiences in the Kalahari, combining safety, storytelling, and conservation awareness. It requires leading drives and walks, interpreting wildlife and ecosystems, managing vehicles and equipment, and collaborating with lodge teams. Success in the position demands professionalism, guest-centric communication, and a passion for preserving biodiversity, all while working in a remote, outdoor environment. Core Criteria: FGASA Level 2 (minimum) or equivalent qualification Lead Trails Guide certification 25 years in a similar role within a game reserve or safari lodge Experience in luxury hospitality preferred Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit) Valid First Aid certification Firearm competency (advantageous/required depending on reserve) Strong knowledge of fauna, flora, and ecosystems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Physically fit and able to work outdoors Candidate Responsibilities: Conduct guided game drives and walking safaris safely and engagingly Interpret wildlife behavior, ecology, and local culture for guests Ensure personalized and memorable guest experiences Assist with hosting duties (meals, transfers, special requests) Maintain professionalism, presentation, and clear communication Adhere strictly to safety protocols during guiding activities Conduct risk assessments before and during drives/walks Maintain firearms competency and safe handling (if applicable) Ensure vehicles and equipment are safe and functional Comply with reserve, legal, and conservation regulations Promote conservation awareness and sustainable tourism practices Monitor and report wildlife sightings and environmental changes Support anti-poaching awareness and conservation initiatives Educate guests on biodiversity and ecosystem management Perform daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance Keep safari vehicles clean and presentable Manage guiding equipment (radios, binoculars, rifles, first aid kits) Report mechanical issues promptly Record daily sightings and guest activity logs Complete incident and maintenance reports when required Assist with reserve data collection and research Work closely with trackers, lodge staff, and management Support other departments for seamless guest service Participate in training, briefings, and continuous development Package: 50% medical contribution UIF Provident Fund
