Job Description

Requirements: 

  • Minimum 10 years relevant civil construction experience
  • Ideally be professionally registered with ECSA or SACPCMP
  • National Diploma or BTech in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar degree
  • Proven experience on roads and earthworks; stormwater systems; water and sewer reticulation, concrete structures, municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of GCC / FIDIC contracts
  • Proficient in MS Projects, Excel and construction reporting systems
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of COLTO/COTO specifications
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willing to travel within KZN and work remotely when required.

Key Responsibilities:
Project & Site Management

  • Manage day-to-day site operations on civil infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate construction activities in accordance with project programmes and specifications.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Liaise with engineers, consultants, clients, subcontractors, and local authorities.

Construction Supervision

  • Supervise construction teams and subcontractors on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality control checks.
  • Oversee setting out and interpretation of construction drawings.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Enforce compliance with OHSA and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Ensure implementation of HSE policies and procedures.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Maintain environmental and safety documentation.

Contract Administration

  • Assist with contractual claims, site instructions, and variation orders.
  • Maintain accurate site records, daily diaries, and progress reports.
  • Monitor project costs and productivity.
  • Support monthly valuations and progress claims.

Stakeholder Management

  • Attend site meetings and provide technical input.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients and consultants.
  • Ensure effective communication with all project stakeholders.
